Encounters at the Bosphorus. Turkey during World War II

The following contributions were first presented at an international conference, Encounters at the Bosphorus: Turkey during the Seco nd World War, held in Wroclaw and Krzyzowa on 28-30 September 2007. This occasion celebrated the one hundredth anniversary of the bi rth of Helmuth James von Moltke and it was arranged by the ''Krzyzowa'' Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe, the Willy Brand t Centre for German and European Studies at the University of Wroclaw and the Kreisau Initiative in Berlin. Support was also given b y the Ulkiumen Sarfati Society in Cologne. Why this picture of Turkey during the Second World War? And why this conference in Krzyzo wa, in memory of Helmuth James von Moltke?
