`Mother died today. Or maybe yesterday, I don`t know`. Meursault will not lie. Unmoved by his mother`s death, he refuses to satisfy the feelings of others by pretending grief. At the end of the funeral, he returns to his simple, batchelor existence in sun-bleached Algiers.
